Support for Relationships, Grief & Life Transitions in Dallas
Help doesn't have to start with a diagnosis.
Not every reason to seek psychiatric care begins with an illness. Loss, divorce, family conflict, changing relationships, caregiving, career changes, or children leaving home can unsettle even people who have previously functioned well. Relationships can also reveal patterns we don't recognize in ourselves — repeated conflict, difficulty setting boundaries, fear of abandonment, or behaviors we later regret — and understanding why these patterns recur opens the possibility of responding differently. Grief in particular deserves patience; it can bring sadness and longing, but also anxiety, anger, guilt, relief, or numbness, with no single correct timetable. Sometimes what's needed isn't an immediate solution, but a place to speak freely, understand what's happened, and find a different way to carry it.
Do I need a diagnosis to come in for help with a difficult life transition?
No. Many people seek care for loss, divorce, career change, or relationship difficulty without an underlying psychiatric illness.
Is it normal that my grief doesn't look like sadness?
Yes. Grief can bring anxiety, anger, guilt, relief, resentment, or numbness — there's no single correct way or timetable to experience it.
I keep repeating the same patterns in relationships. Can that be addressed here?
Yes. Dr. Rao helps identify patterns like difficulty setting boundaries or fear of abandonment, so you can understand and respond to them differently.
What does treatment for a life transition actually involve?
Often, simply a place to speak freely and understand what's happened — not necessarily medication or an immediate solution.
