Some forms of brain stimulation that once required repeated visits to a treatment center are beginning to become available for home use under medical supervision. Flow FL-100 is an FDA-approved prescription device using transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for adults with moderate-to-severe major depression, expected to become available for U.S. prescribing beginning September 1, 2026. ProlivRx is another FDA-approved prescription neuromodulation device for home or clinical use as an adjunctive treatment for adults with major depression who haven't had an adequate response to at least one antidepressant. These treatments don't replace careful diagnosis, psychotherapy, or medication — but they offer another option for selected patients, particularly when treatment at home may make an effective intervention more accessible.
